Joining Our Program

Pegasus lessons are generally offered on a weekly basis and are staffed by our NARHA-certified instructors. Students are currently accepted as young as four years old. While the majority of our riders are under the age of 18, we also serve adults with special needs, including senior citizens.

To be considered for one of our programs, prospective riders or their parents/legal guardians must first complete the required application form and return it to Pegasus. Staff members then assess the prospective rider to determine eligibility.

Admission into our program will depend upon certain logistical considerations, such as scheduling issues, availability of staff members with the necessary expertise, and availability of a horse/pony appropriate for the size and ability level of the rider.

While we make every effort to accommodate as many riders as possible, we do have a wait-list of eligible applicants for whom we do not have an immediate opening. In these cases, we contact the rider as soon as all of the required conditions become available.

Once there is an opening, a rider will be asked to come in for an evaluation. Our staff then establishes short-term objectives and long-range goals based on the individual’s physical, educational, social and recreational aims. We create weekly objectives designed to take the student one step closer to his or her long-range goals.
